Testimonials
This is a student testimonial from a student from Mauritius currently studying at the Australasian College - Broadway. Learn about what studying is like at the College
I came to the Australasian College Broadway from another college which closed down suddenly making me feel very unhappy. After coming here I am happy again and realise how much better the teaching is and how much more I am learning. The learning style at the other college was only theory and we never had an opportunity to be hands on and use our skills on real clients. The teaching methods used are very
different, creative, exciting and in many ways unique. I would highly recommend Australasian College Broadway to anyone coming to Australia from my country to study hairdressing.
I studied at Wollongong University where I gained a Major in Strategic Marketing. Then I decided I wanted to do something more active and fashionable so I decided to do Hairdressing. I chose three colleges to research and after visiting them all there was no doubt that Australasian College Broadway was the only choice to make. The environment is beautiful, all the teachers are local, many of the students have become teachers. I can do my 20 hours in 2 days which suits me very well. I sometimes help as an interpreter at the college for students who are having difficulty with their English and I really love to help when I can. I do my 20 hours work in a Hairdressing Salon in Wollongong where I live and my boss is very happy with my work.
The main difference between studying here and in my home country of Vietnam is the approach to study. The Australian education system offers me a flexibility I value. I learned about the Australasian College Broadway through a friend who was a long time client here. She told me it was the best, had
a very high standard and she was always very happy with every hair and beauty service she received at the college. So I enrolled and started my course which I really love. The teachers and staff are very professional, friendly and helpful and I have made many friends here, we are just like one big happy
family. We are always laughing and having fun while we learn, we do have the opportunity to cut and colour each others hair which makes us feel very fashionable and glamorous. I am hoping to specialise in colour and become a colourist expert!
When Deepa first came to Australia she decided to study nursing, however, it only took a while for her to discover that this was not really her, she needed to do something more creative. She talked to a friend who told her that Hairdressing was a very interesting, creative and exciting subject to study with really positive job prospects once you have your qualification. She then researched Colleges and decided that Australasian College Broadway offered the very best courses for her in an environment that was fashionable and glamorous. She absolutely loves every day, she says “the teachers are cooperative, talented, very funny and a source of our encouragement. Practising your skills on real clients is a great rewarding experience.”
