Gregg "Diploma of Salon Management"

"Moving from Army Reserves to the Hospitality Industry, I was never sure what I wanted to do. My friends told me I should follow my passion of hairdressing as I was always cutting and styling their hair for them! As soon as I walked into the Australasian College Broadway I felt comfortable and knew this was a great learning environment. The educators and staff are always so supportive, and there was never a moment I didn't feel I wasn't learning new and exciting things. I am always thankful that I was given this opportunity to study at the College, because they offered VET FEE HELP. I am finally about to graduate and hope to open a hairdressing franchise in my local area soon."

What do you like the most about the diploma?

I like the practical side of it and doing the treatments, it is just more enjoyable and more interactive with the clients and I do learn faster and better.

What advice do you have for students who might be unsure about studying?

Just try it because I didn't know that I would like it but now I do and I am very excited about starting a job when I finish in three weeks.

What are your plans for the future?

I would like to open my own beauty business one day, but now I am concentrating on competing in the WorldSkills competition against other top skilled beauty therapists and hopefully I can win.

Tatum Rose Diploma of Hairdressing

Tatum Rose

I started my dream of becoming a Hairdresser on the 24/02/2010.

Trying to get an apprenticeship was extremely difficult and not many employers wanted to give me a chance to prove myself.  I found at The Australasian College I was given an opportunity to fulfil my dreams.

At first I found it hard being in a classroom again, but after a week I was really excited about coming to class.  My experience as a student was amazing. My educator for theory was Knowledgeable and broke down the information in a way that made it easy to understand, giving me more confidence.

My many experiences include opportunities to participate in the colleges outside events. This included the Deadlie awards/photo shoot with the “It was me Creations” doing both Hair and makeup.  Also Working with various outside agencies & cutting their hair gave me the confidence to  get a job.

At the Hair Expo I was asked by the company RUSK to be behind stage to prepare the models for their on stage performances.

My experience at the college has made me want to further my hairdressing skills within the Industry.
